1. What are the six parts of a resume?

1. Heading- Name and Address Contact Info

Your Name
1234 Any Street
Any City, Any State Zip Code
(Area code) Phone Number

Email: use a professional email address, if you don’t have one you should get one for your job search and check regularly. There are employers that prefer to communicate using email.


2. Job objective-States the jobs you are applying for

To secure a position as XXX- state the position that you are applying for in the objective.


3. Work Experience- Includes job title, dates, tasks performed.

This is a very important section. If you have worked several jobs within a one to two year period, you canuse the year of employment
rather than the month and year of employment. Be prepared to discuss your reasons for changing jobs frequently.

When listing tasks performed, if possible, use language that supports the position in which you are
applying.

When listing a job title use the professional term for the position.

Example:

2019-2020

Olive Garden, Burbank, California 91604

Position: Server

Tasks: Responsible for delivering a high level of customer service ensuring customer satisfaction while dining.

Education- Formal training, Military .

Honors & activities. Recognition and leisure interest that relates to the job you want.


5. Special Skills

This is where you can describe special skills like being bilingual, customer service experience etc....


6. References

List three professional references if possible. Name, phone, and email address if preferred. If you do not have three professional references make sure you list your references as “personal”.
