Day of Hope

  • LA Community Alliance (map)

On the last Tuesday of each month, LA Community Alliance(LACA) participates in an event called “Day of Hope” for unhoused/houseless individuals and families. People arrive early. As they step into the parking lot of the Reality LA Hope Center, they not only partake in vital, professional assistance but more importantly they are guests. The event embodies our mission of community alliances, compassion, and effective service.

We believe that we are stronger when we work together. And nowhere is this more evident than at this event which combines the efforts of multiple nonprofits. Each guest has the option to receive a shower, haircut, hygiene packs, clean clothes, a hot meal, and an additional service – such as Vaccines or Tax Services.

The most popular station is the open-air pop-up barber shop.  Guests sit in a semi-circle of socially distanced chairs. Professional hairstylists and barbers cut and style hair to individual preference. Though we only see one another once a month, the organizations provide seamless comprehensive service. There is no competition. And that is the point.  Only when we forge alliances will we maximize change.

We invite you to join us at our next community service fair for the houseless/unhoused.
